(CAP)italism
(CAP)italism is a treatise, a historical primer of Black women's organizing in Toronto, and an exploration of the term "racial capitalism". It plays with the term "cap" which is slang for lying or telling a lie, communicating that capitalism in itself is a bit of a mirage and challenges the reader to think beyond it.
About the Maker: Gabrielle Monique Warren is a PhD candidate at the University of Toronto researching the history and politics of Canadian education, committed to making radical ideas beautiful. Frustrated by inaccessible academic writing, she creates projects that engage the spatial politics of place—connecting critical knowledge (bread) with creative expression (roses) to imagine and build an equitable, post-capitalist future.
