Junk Drawer
Junk Drawer is a collaborative chapbook/zine of poems by Toronto-based writer Kelby Mackenzie and paintings by Vancouver-based artist Georgina Hawitt. Created in the summer of 2024, the chapbook holds a collection of personal fragments and moments that explore themes of relationships, identity diffusion, mental illness, and the performance of femininity.
About the makers: Kelby Mackenzie is a writer and poet based in Toronto. Her work explores identity diffusion, intimacy, digital selfhood, neurodivergence, and the performance of femininity. She writes poetry, personal essays, and fiction.
Georgina Hawitt is an artist with a passion for metalwork and sculpture. However, her main artistic practice is centered around painting. Georgina’s work displays abstract humans and figures. Often drawing inspiration from German expressionism, Georgina’s work is a mix of humor, tension, and discomfort, commanding attention and space. She challenges the viewer to question preconceived ideas and embrace the multifaceted nature of femininity.
