A common thread in the fibre arts community is the shared appreciation for creating something tangible, a piece that can be held and felt in contrast to our screen-dominant lives. Needlebound provides a space where fibre artists can share their stories and perspectives in a place that is not dominated through platform algorithms. It's name is an homage to the 5th century craft of Nålebinding, which was a precursor to knitting and served as a social catalyst, where artisans gathered to create, share stories, and foster community.

About the maker:  Dazy Chains is a textile art & publishing project by Hayley Mortin based in Montreal, QC.

The project is named after a concept in computing known as "daisy-chaining", by which multiple devices are wired together to transmit a signal. 'Chaining' is also a term in crochet, which usually forms the foundation of a garment. Inspired by the influence that 18th-century garment-making machines had on the first computational devices, Dazy Chains is a gentle nod to the long interwoven history of computers and textiles.
