Sorts of Schnecken
Sorts of Schnecken is an introduction to the many types of snails — or, sorts of schnecken — one might find along quiet trails in the German and Austrian Alps. This whimsical guide may have you noticing interesting characteristics in snails that cross your path.
About the maker: Danielle Taschereau Mamers is a writer, researcher, and graphic facilitator. She has been creating zines and zine-adjacent work since sometime in the 2000s. When living in rural Japan in 2010-2012, she used zines to document my experiences and naive observations. Other times, I’ve turned to zines as a method for sharing hobbies and enthusiasms or reflecting on pedagogy, academic precarity, and ethics. Most recently, she has been working with her favourite methods—line drawing, tiny handwriting, and a photocopying—to create zines and mail art that focus on joy and imagination.
