Snowed In

The no staple zine Snowed In follows two characters who hear an unfamiliar noise coming from their front door during a heavy snow fall. This upbeat, light-hearted 8 page comic follows the characters as they venture around their home to determine where this suspicious scratching noise is coming from. A surprising twist at the end reveals the intruder's identity. My zine is punctuated with humour and embraces the long winter season experienced by many in the city. The original comic was created in graphite which was then scanned and printed through a dual drum Riso-graph printer. "Snowed In" uses a combination of traditional techniques and adaptions of comic transitions to enrich the suspense of the story.

About the artist: Grace Vali is a multidisciplinary illustrator based in Mississauga and Toronto. She recently finished her final year at OCAD University, majoring in illustration (BDes). She conjures images and stories that carry sociopolitical themes that are synthesized with humour and surrealist aesthetics. She has a passion for constructing quality artworks and continues to pursue thought-provoking messages about human existence and societal topics.
