Regular price $32.00

Over the past seven years, FORGOTTEN LANDS has established itself as a premier multi-disciplinary platform in the contemporary Caribbean art scene, showcasing emerging artists and launching the careers of aspiring talents throughout the diaspora. Their mission is to provide a platform for the many overlooked stories of the Caribbean while interconnecting and highlighting the region’s unique history.

From the FORGOTTEN LANDS team on Volume 06 – Neo-Carib Visions:

For our most recent publication, we’ve chosen to center it around what Cuban historical novelist, critical essayist, and short story writer Antonio Benítez-Rojo once termed the ‘supersyncretic’ culture of the Caribbean - a rich tapestry of ever-evolving interwoven traditions and expressions.

Although syncretism emerges from the violent colonial histories and uprootedness of the Caribbean, each island-nation conjures different ways of expressing, coping, managing, and healing the fractures of conquest. Nonetheless, there still is a Pan-Caribbean identity that is perpetually evolving. This leads us to ask what defines the ‘Neo-Carib’? What does our cultural identity look like today and where is it going?

Volume 06 features work from Amara King, Dr. Ashley James, Bony Ramirez, Cédrine Scheidig, Devin Osorio, Djali Brown-Cepeda, Frédéric Georges, Eliazar Ortiz, Janice Reid, Jard Lerebours, Julianny Ariza Vólquez, Karla Claudio, Louisa Marajo, Mackenzie Erica Luke, Dr. Margarita Lila Rosa, Milo Matthieu, Rachel Scott, Ricardo Ariel Toribio, Simon Benjamin, Suzanna Missenberger, Terrell Villiers, Torrijo Galeano, Vanessa Selk, and Zulile Blinker.
