ETC. #5

ETC. is dedicated to showcasing current artistic production from the Baltic to the Balkans. Each thematic issue promotes emerging artists, initiates a dialogue, inspires collaborations, and challenges set views.

In this issue: Full Circle

ETC. turns its attention to cycles of the personal, political, and the historical while considering the loops between memory and amnesia, past and present, and reliving or erasing. This issue explores the unstable terrain in coming "full circle." How much do structures of power shape remembrance and commemoration? What role do archives, memorials, and collective memory play, not only in mourning, but in mobilizing? And how much of what we know about the past is fictionalized, mythologized or otherwise misshapen and manipulated? In this issue, ETC. asks whether we are doomed to repetition or can we return to the past in order to rethink the future?
