The Boy Is Beautiful #5

The Boy Is Beautiful is a an Anglo-Greek magazine unravelling the thread of queer Greek chronicles, connecting myth and history to contemporary queer life. The title of the magazine comes from an engraved inscription on the surface of a red-figure Attica vase some thousands of years ago, an intricate detail that echoes the sexual liberation of a bygone era, and transforms a common vessel into a declaration of homoerotic affection. 

In this issue: Heterotopias

Issue #5 traces queer space-making and structures of survival, seduction, worship, disappearance, and becoming from Ancient Greece to pleather-lined dungeons to cyberspace and beyond. Heterotopias drifts through orgiastic rituals, architectural fantasies, nudist beaches, activist networks, dark rooms, drag stages, poetry, cruising grounds, and sun-struck islands. Highlights include East London drag deity "A Man To Pet" reflecting on twenty years of spectacle and community-building, René Habermacher's staging of the Odyssey in original Versace couture, and Beyond the Karma Sutra with Prishita Maheswhari-Alpin.
