Rubbish Famzine #13
Out of Singapore, Rubbish Famzine is a project produced by the Lim family, which has documented their life together through film, culture and ephemera for nearly 10 years now. The project has grown with the family, and the heart with which it was made seeps into each bit of it; and there are a lot of bits! Each issue contains several components which make up the whole zine: it could be small photo books, a toy, a watch, a packet of ramen... everything is possible. This is a treasured object made with a whole lot of heart.
In this issue: An Illogical Guide To Triscaidecaphobia At The Touch Of Wood
Are you a triscaidecaphobe? Does anyone of us even know there is such a condition much less have a word to describe it so. And since this is out thirteenth issue I suppose there is no better time than now to delve into this curious and unusual fear of the number thirteen. A regrettable harbinger of "bad luck", which would lead us to the possible fact that touching wood can indeed ward off misfortune or even bring about "good luck"! thats is why this zine is held together with wooden rulers and the covers of each section are bound with various types of wood veneer sourced from around the world. Ironically, do you also know that in the Chinese culture the same number thirteen is actually deemed auspicious!? Now isn't that something. Be it urban legends or age-old circumstances, let us regale you with our family's silly anecdotes along with factual data on the dismal or not, reputation of this peculiar number. And if you ever start feeling anxious remember you'll be holding this zine so nothing bafd is going to happen to you!
