Scaffold* Journal V.3

Scaffold* Journal is an experimental design publication that explores the nuances of contemporary design applications. The publication platforms alternative methodologies and modes of inquiry that are emerging within design research. Scaffold* is an annual, peer-reviewed design journal managed by graduate and undergraduate students from the John H. Daniels Faculty of Architecture, Landscape and Design at the University of Toronto.

In this issue:

The third volume reframes the architectural practice of review, revealing its weak links and introducing alternative methods of conducting it. While conventional reviews have long served to evaluate design presentation, this volume develops all else a review can do: challenge assumptions, inspire new inquiries, and create space for critical conversation. Contributors invited to write about a recent project, knew that their work would be reviewed by another contributor and documented in the volume. Organized as a sequential chain, the volume moves from author to author, with written and visual reviews placed between pieces. Together, these exchanges foreground and individual practice while also exploring novel, interdisciplinary perspectives.
