Founded in 1987 in Montreal, ESPACE art actuel is an essential bilingual magazine dedicated to the promotion of contemporary art in the field of sculpture, installation and all other art forms associated with the notion of spatiality.

Issue #143 is devoted to light—sculptural, scenographic, and urban. Contributors consider light that creates opacity, causes blindness, shines not to reveal truth or open a path but to dissimulate and disorient, just as the 24/7 flow of images does. Highlights include: "From Nūr to Neon: Light, Divinity and Oil in Islamic Arab Art" by Sirine Germani, Josianne Poirier in conversation with Fiona Annis, and "A Thousand Speculations" by Michael Nardone.
